← Russian scientist suggested creating settlements on the Moon
Andrey Ionin, a member of the Russian Academy of cosmonautics named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky, expressed his opinion on the creation of a settlement on the Moon and Mars. This proposal was born against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the moment, the epidemic has not affected only one continent — Antarctica.
According to Andrey Ionin, humanity is able to implement interplanetary flights, as we have all the resources and technologies for this. The scientist believes that humanity is in great danger, which is associated not only with a new type of coronavirus, but also with environmental problems:
"Based on the interests of the survival of the species, we need to think about a solution to this problem. The creation of settlements on other planets - on Mars, the moon - is a factor in reducing the risk of the death of civilization from man-made, biological and other problems."
Ionin noted that the G20 countries should take up deep space flights.
